Every dog on this site is published with its clearances in full — the ones held and the ones still open. This page is the standard the program tests to, and why each piece of it matters.
What the CHIC panel requires
For a Rottweiler, a CHIC number means five specific evaluations are on record: hips andelbows for the orthopaedic joints that carry a heavy working dog; a cardiacexam for the subaortic stenosis the breed is prone to; an annualeye examination; and theJLPP DNA test for the neurological disease that is fatal in affected puppies. CHIC certifies that all five were done and the results published — not that every result passed. Recording an evaluation that did not certify is the honest half of the standard, and it is the half most programs drop.
OFA and ADRK/FCI are different scales
A hip is graded one way in North America and another in Europe, and the two do not convert. OFA reads a hip film against a seven-point American scale and issues EXCELLENT, GOOD or FAIR for a passing joint. The ADRK/FCIsystem reads a different film, positioned differently, against its own scale, and issues HD-A throughHD-E. HD-A and OFA GOOD are not the same result translated — they are different panels reading different images by different rules. This site keeps a separate registryon every result and never renders one in the shape of the other; the AKC and FCI show records are kept in separate tables for the same reason.
Advanced cardiac beats a stethoscope
A basic cardiac clearance is an auscultation — a cardiologist listening for a murmur. An advanced cardiac adds an echocardiogram, which images the heart and can catch a mild subaortic stenosis that a stethoscope misses. The advanced exam is worth more, and where the program holds one, it says so. One dog currently carries only a basic auscultation on file —Sunny. That is stated here rather than rounded up to "cardiac clear", because the difference is real and a buyer deserves to weigh it.
JLPP, carriers, and why we publish them
JLPP is autosomal recessive: a puppy is only affected if it inherits the variant from both parents. A carrier bred to a DNA-clear mate can therefore produce carriers but never an affected puppy. That is whyYanni is still published as a carrier rather than quietly retired — bred once to a clear sire, she was safe to breed, and hiding the status would only make the pedigree less honest. Her daughterAmina carries her own clear swab on record — parentage narrows the odds, but a DNA test settles them, so we test.
Every dog, every panel
Generated from the dog records themselves, so it cannot drift from what each page shows. Solid mahogany is a held clearance, muted is evaluated but not certified, and a hatched cell is a gap — a panel not yet on file.
